A Dolphin with DEBUG Powers!? (Ecco the Dolphin, Sega Genesis) - Retrogaming Easter Eggs
1,130There's a super easy debug code in Ecco the Dolphin for the Sega Genesis! It allows you to do lots of cool stuff that dolphins can probably normally do anyway, like teleport and change the tempo of the ambient music!
During any level, face left or right, then tap the OPPOSITE direction and pause the game so Ecco is facing straight at you. Then input the following:
Right, B, C, B, C, Down, C, Up.
If you did everything right, you'll see some debugging options appear on your screen with the words "THE DOLPHIN" at the top. And the options you see are fairly self-explanatory.
The Stage Number can take you to any level in the game, but some of them are cutscenes and might crash your game! Hit Start to use this function.
Sound Number lets you listen to any music or sound in the game with A or B respectively. Music Tempo lets you change the speed of the music, but doesn't always work with every setting?
Message Number lets you view all of the messages/dialogue in the game. Press A on message 43 to gain invincibility!
If you set Unlimited Life to 1, your life and oxygen will never decrease.
Lastly, the Teleporter allows you to change Ecco's X and Y coordinates. Sometimes the coordinates you choose will place Ecco out of bounds or somewhere you might get stuck. Invalid coordinates will do nothing.
