If normally shoot bows using the classic Mediterranean three-finger release it might be interesting to try using a thumb ring with the arrow on the right side, a style commonly associated with Asian steppe archers.

There is nothing wrong with the Mediterranean draw but this method of using a bow, especially a short one like a horsebow, has its pros and is definitely worth exploring.
