A Light in the Dark (Pt 1): Neo Finds Himself Kidnapped by a Resentful, Impoverished Woman
[BLIND LET'S PLAY]
"We cannot choose in this unfair world."
Hao-Chen, a young man from a well-off family, suddenly wakes up in a dim, dreary room he has never seen before. Attempting to get up and try to turn on the lights, he discovers that he is bound to a chair by rope, his arms tied behind him. Taking this and the location he is in into consideration, herealizes his situation: he's been kidnapped. It is then that a mysterious young woman appears before him, who tells Hao-Chen that she is the one holding him hostage, and that his family will need to pay a ransom for his safe return or else he won't have a chance to escape. She tells him all this while taking the opportunity to mock him over his status as a "rich boy" being thrust into a situation he likely never expected to find himself him due to his privileged upbringing. Hao-Chen certainly can't deny that he never expected anyone to try and harm him like this woman has, although he is put off by her bigoted attitude towards him.
After she finishes informing Hao-Chen of his situation and the requirements for his safe return, she makes it quickly and explicitly clear to him that if he tries to escape on his own and not do what he is told, she won't hesitate to harm him as much as necessary in order to bring him back in line - all the while flashing a sharp kitchen knife at him. Neosekken, who is in control over the decisions Hao-Chen makes throughout the game, has him verbally agree to the woman's terms - although not without having Hao-Chen make a few sarcastic quips of his own back at his kidnapper, despite the harsh punches and kicks it earns Hao-Chen in the process. When Neo is finally given full control of Hao-Chen, he begins both examining his surroundings and trying to talk to the kidnapper...
Neo doing what he can to pacify Hao-Chen's kidnapper while throwing in his honest thoughts about whatever she throws Hao-Chen's way, with all the risks that it entails, is the method of engagement that Neo will choose to enact all the while gathering as much information as he can about the kidnapper and the location she has Hao-Chen trapped inside in "A Light in the Dark", a visual novel game developed by the developers "CreSpirit", "Narrator" and "STORIA". With a stamina bar to manage, a kidnapper with a short fuse and a large bias against her victim for his status in society, and limited actions on account of being tied-up and kept under constant guard, Neo is going to have to make his decisions carefully, all the while analyzing and adapting to his situation whenever it changes in any way, if he wants to get Hao-Chen out of his situation alive and in one piece. But since he's not eager to let Hao-Chen take the kidnapper's contant string of insults towards the young man lying down, Neo knows he's not exactly going to have the easiest of times accomplishing this, especially without having to retry the game to get a better ending if his desire to give Hao-Chen a spine ends up getting the guy killed on his first run...
