A look at the tilted Melbourne W-Class Tram sculpture
Hello everyone! I am having a look around at the vertical tram sculpture which was located next to the former Victorian Railways headquarters, as I call it as the tilted Melbourne tram sculpture.
The sculpture is based on a real design of a W7-Class Tram, using the undercarriage details, side details, roof details as well as some other parts of the tram. It bears the number 1040, which is the real fleet number that belongs to a W7-Class Tram (being the final W-Class Tram built), and is currently preserved in the Hawthorn Tramway Museum as a display, but storage as well. The tram sculpture was erected in mid-2013, which consisted of only two thirds of the whole tram model and is placed at the corner of Flinders Street/Spencer Street intersection, where it stood today. This was recorded at Melbourne CBD on November 1, 2024.
