A Piano Master Class With Adam Simpson – 45 Mins | Adam Needs A Haircut.
Hi everyone! Here I have a full 45 minute piano lesson which is pretty much just like watching a master class. All of the details, highlights are just below. I hope you enjoy it!
0:38 – Loosening up the fingers - Scales - F Major, A Harmonic Minor, C Chromatic and C contrary motion.
2:45 – Making scales to be played nice and evenly between both of the hands.
4:42 – Always praising and complementing the student when they are doing something really, really well.
4:58 – Helping with tone, not making it too harsh.
5:25 – Slowing down the tempo to make a better even sound.
7:00 – Making great progress and then slightly increasing the scale’s tempo.
8:35 – Adam heard the wrong scale, Ay I heard G Major, that’s not C Major.

19:13 – Making sure the note is being held for its full length by slowing the tempo down and establishing a new muscle memory.

28:43 – New music term – Rubato - allowing the notes to sound much more expressive, holding the tempo back.

38:05 – A trick! - Start softer than you are supposed to which makes the following notes much more noticeable in dynamic change.
39:50 – Changing the range as the notes were played an octave too high.
41:21 – Omitting a note, an additional note was accidentally played.
42:58 – Music games! – Last week was identifying pictures, today we did definitions.
