I agree with the common criticism that Fitzroy's character was wasted but I still think what they did with the alternate timeline where the Vox Populi don't trust Booker is more interesting than the generic rebels-vs-empire narrative people wanted it to be.
It's media from 2013 starring Kimberly Brooks where you're not always supposed to agree with the protagonist's assessment of things and the narrative is slightly more complex than "blow up le big fascists!" so people interpreted it in bad faith and called its writer, a Jewish person, a Nazi apologist. It's just like Steven Universe, now I think of it. Steven Universe if it had head explosions and actually racist antagonists.
