A Speedrun to get an ULTIMATRIS in every stage!
1Tetris Effect: Connected - All Ultis in 46:23.39 RTA (40:34.17 IGT)
I got bored and decided I wanted to speedrun my favorite game. However, I decided that I don't really like the categories currently, since the gameplay is kinda bland for a game as beautiful and fun as TE:C. So I decided to add the flagship mechanic of Zone to a speedrun and make a new categoty: All Ultis!
In this category, time stops at 90 lines at Metamorphosis, but you need to score an Ultimatris or better on every stage. While I got each ulti I needed on the same life, I decided to use RTA for timing, as I believe you should be allowed to top out and start the stage over if you miss the ulti, and IGT resets the timer when you do so.
I think there's some good potential in this speedrun. There's resource management with the zone and you can save time by using less charge and getting the clear first try. In a normal speedrun you'd want to get 36/36 every time, but in this one I intentionally went for an extra line out of zone for the potential of getting an extra charge before the level ends, which did end up saving me this time. I think this would also be an awesome speedrun to show casual viewers, since the zone is a staple to this game, yet none of the major speedruns that a majority of the public see use it.
