I sneak back into the car-park and also check out the Van, as I wanted to see whether they had a legitimate reason for creating such a huge fire at this place, which is classed as a Nature reserve, upon some googling it turns out the company does commercial joinery and Construction of commercial buildings, so god knows what one of their employees was doing out there in the middle of the night, creating a large fire too, which is likely not allowed seems a bit dodgy to me tbh.

I'm always under the stance that if you visit these places, then you respect them and take only memories and leave only footprints.

You don't start large fires that could potentially start secondary fires from any sparks or ash that are blown on the breeze, as just across the river the ferns grow high and in the summer months are dry and brown, a stray spark could easily ignite some and leave you with a fire that takes out half the place, killing any animals caught up in it.

If you want a controlled fire for food preparation, then create a small stone circle or have a BBQ on one of the metal stands on the numerous wooden benches designed for such a thing. I very much doubt, this person I sneaked passed had a legal right to create a fire of that size, even if all they were doing was fishing.
