This is the Stranded Challenge in No Man's Sky. For this challenge you play as a planetary engineer, stuck on a random planet. You know how to fix and build anything... except a space ship. The whole goal is to get to a portal so you can get home. Let's see how long it takes...

|Story|
You find yourself stranded on an unknown planet with no memory of how you got there. Your main goal is to return to your home planet, and the only feasible way is through a portal.
You are a simple planetary technician with basic knowledge of exocraft and Multitool technology, but no knowledge about repairing space ships or even a license to fly them. The only way for you to use ships is to steal a license from a crashed ship, but that license only works for that type of ship. So a hauler license will only allow you to buy a hauler.
|Setup of game|
- Game Mode: Survival Extreme (All Sliders to the Maximum)
- Enable all Blueprints
- Disable Tutorial
- Avoid Story Lines
- NO Cheating: No Duping, No glitching, No Save scumming
- Starter Ship is not Allowed
- Challenge is restricted to starter planet - must not leave
|Start and Details|
1) Building an Exocraft
You can build any exocraft vehicle you choose to explore the planet. The Minotaur exocraft ( Mech ) is not allowed.
2) Locate the Portal:
Your objective is to locate a portal on the planet. This is how you leave the planet and complete the challenge.
3) Acquiring a Ship:
All ships are allowed but are not required for this challenge. Ships make travel very fast, so there is an advantage to using them. Before you can purchase a ship, you need to forge a Pilot License.
-- The only requirement for a pilot license is to find a crashed ship and claim it. Once claimed you take that license for your own. This determines the type of ship you can purchase.
-- You can try finding another ship if you are not happy with the first ship you find. You can search for all ship types if you desire, but no ship can be purchased unless you have found and claimed a crashed ship of the same type.
4) Portal Travel:
Use the portal to travel to your home planet, completing the challenge. All glyphs are unlocked immediately, and no specific destination is required. Pick any destination and the challenge is complete once you land on the new planet.
|Additional Rules|
- You cannot expand your inventory slots, you lack the classification to use Drop Pods. You must manage with the available space or purchase better equipment.
- You are allowed to build only one base computer on the planet. The base can be dismantled and rebuilt, but only one base at a time.
- You can not use the "Recall" Exocraft option, except for when you are completely stuck or bugged out. (If you are stuck in a cave, you can dig yourself out).
- To obtain the "License" you must claim the ship, not just find it.
- The Minotaur is off limits for this challenge.
|FAQ|
- Yes, you can build a trade rocket if you wish to.
- Yes you can use the claimed ship (license) to trade when purchasing your ship.
- The challenge is designed for the Roamer in mind, but any exocraft can be used ( except Minotaur )
- Yes you can talk to any alien you find. You may also enter and use any building on the planet.
- You can not leave the spawn planet, even after purchasing a ship. Your pilot skills are limited to in atmosphere travel.
