The story takes us to the continent of Excillant, a world divided into five kingdoms where four elemental crystals have fallen into the wrong hands. The protagonist, Seth, a young shipwrecked sailor, joins Princess Gloria, the wise Elvis, and the mercenary Adelle on a quest to retrieve these crystals and save the world from a magical catastrophe. While the narrative follows classic archetypes, it stands out for its charisma, plot twists, and character development throughout the journey.
In terms of gameplay, Bravely Default II shines with its signature "Brave" and "Default" system. You can take multiple actions in a single turn (Brave) or accumulate turns defending (Default), allowing you to plan complex offensive and defensive strategies. Furthermore, the job system once again becomes a cornerstone of the game, allowing characters to adopt different classes (such as Black Mage, Monk, or Thief) and freely combine them to maximize their potential.
Combat is challenging, especially on higher difficulties, and requires intelligent use of all the system's tools. Boss fights, in particular, require tactical planning and job proficiency.
Artistically, the game features hand-painted, fairy-tale-style environments contrasted with chibi-style 3D characters. The soundtrack, composed by Revo (who also composed the music for the first Bravely Default), is epic and varied, elevating both the calm moments and the most intense battles.
