At 6am on Wednesday 19th April 2017 the diversion of the A6 at Hazel Grove was opened. This is the first "new" road that has been opened as part of the Manchester Airport Eastern Link Road (A555) works.

This short section effectively forms a bypass of the A6 at Simpsons Corner

The whole project is due to open in Spring 2018
