Aaron is leaving Twitch?
12/3/21 -- I explain a lot of reasons why I want to eliminate my affiliate contract with Twitch and stream/pre-record content on YouTube and focus on this platform and Patreon.
The Twitch Affiliate contract demands you stream exclusively on Twitch and they own your likeness and content. That's not good if you're wanting to branch out or form a brand. The Monstercat membership that allows you to essentially purchase Twitch Affiliate status devalues the Affiliate program even more. I don't see a clear path to Twitch Partnership and it's not really a goal I'm after.
Twitch takes a lot of revenue from bits, subs (50% meaning I make $2.50 per sub), and ads. You have to make $100 in revenue for Twitch to cut you a check, which means they're pocketing a lot of cash from affiliates not making that much. While I make an extra $100-$200 a month on Twitch through its revenue streams I feel that the drawbacks far outweigh the cash.
Patreon and YouTube have much better revenue splits (My Patreon plan is the 8% plan so they only take 8%). My growth on YouTube over time (watch hours, views, subscriptions) has been better than my overall viewers over time on Twitch. I can see a future on YouTube and with more work I could eventually be YouTube Partner!
