!!!NOTICE!!!
Overall most of the graphical issues from the previous builds of Xenia and Xenia Canary are still present, including triangles all over the terrain, as well as low resolution for clouds and particle effects like missile contrails and explosions.
There are some improvements at least, namely menu and in-game music work well for the most part with only slight audio hitching (is that even the right term?).
Cutscene audio also works partially, but cuts out after approximately 15 seconds where it turns into a buzzing sound until the cutscene ends or is skipped. This seems to only apply to in-engine rendered cutscenes. Prerendered cutscenes seem to be fine.
Some dialogue during the mission also gets cut off (best noticeable when Ghost Eye orders the evacuation towards the end).
I would say just having the mission music back makes the game much more playable than it was in the past, but that's just my opinion.
Also I apologize for not having performance metrics like framerate on screen. I recorded this on a whim at 1AM and just completely forgot about that, so I give you permission to call me a dumbass.
From what I could feel while playing, it felt like it was a stable 30FPS with the occasional framedrop and/or frametime spike. The freezes definitely feel shorter in duration than earlier versions of Xenia and Canary that was tested on mostly the same hardware if I remember correctly.
Congratulations to the team behind Xenia for making such good progress. Many other games are much more playable now on the latest version which is awesome.
I on the other hand have no idea what I'm doing and haven't used Xenia much, so I have no idea if there are any tweaks that can be made to have the game run better like on emulators for the PS1, PS2 and PSP Ace Combat Games.
