Bout presents: Ace o Nerae! (Intro)

Ace the Nerae! ("Aim for the Ace!") is a tennis game that uses the Super Famicom's Mode 7 capabilities. It is based on the Ace or Nerae! anime and manga of the same name. It's about a female tennis athlete-in-training and her dela travails her with becoming better at tennis and being a more confident person. The game uses numerous characters from the source, several of which are selectable for multiplayer, and features a story mode.

Surprisingly, it is the only game ever made that's based on the classic 1970's manga, "Ace wo Nerae!" by Sumika Yamamoto, and the three popular TV anime series, one movie, and one OVA series that were adopted from it. In this game, you play as Hiromi Oka, a student at Nishi High. She is only a beginner but she has great aspirations to get to the top. Soon she realizes her her natural talent and, combined with her coach Jin's training, she's able to compete on the same level as her idol Madam Butterfly, and win. Help Hiromi achieve her destiny by defeating all her opponents in this exciting and challenging pseudo-3D tennis game that all fans of the anime and tennis fans in general should try out.

Ace the Nerae! is one of the first games to experience the effects of Mode 7 (simulating three dimensions), without restricting gameplay–while the game is default played with the Mode 7 view, which turns the court around to reflect whatever the player character is looking at, it's possible to play with a standard static 2D perspective.

Several games based on Aim for the Ace! have been released in Japan. Nippon Telenet adapted the series into a Super Famicom video game, which they published on December 22, 1993. Tristar published two video game adaptations for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X; the first was released on November 30, 2002, and the second on December 3, 2004. In 2009, Olympia distributed an Ace o Nerae!-themed pachinko machine under its Gold Olympia brand. Ace Denken released a different machine in 2011.

This is one of the first games the used effects from the Mode 7 technology, simulating third-dimensional tennis arena. During 2003 and 2004 a ROM-hacking group named "RPGOne" translated the game to English and renamed it as "Aim For The Ace! Ace Tennis".
