In today's episode (Ep 3), we continue our trek through Adventure Mode and have a fun time! In this mode, one player is using the gamepad's screen while the other is using the TV (so, not split-screen). In this video, you'll be watching Peter play and Ted will just make a cameo on Peter's screen every now and again. Come downstairs and have a seat with us on the couch right here in The Basement - the friendliest place on YouTube!

IGN has some good introductory info on Adventure Mode
( http://www.ign.com/wikis/hyrule-warriors/Adventure_Mode )
Adventure Mode is a special mode in which you can acquire Heart Containers and powerful new weapons, power up your warriors, and unlock new Characters.

In Adventure Mode, your goal is to access new areas of the map, modeled after the overworld map in the original Legend of Zelda, by winning battles with various special rules. Where your character can move on the world map depends on the battle rank you have attained in the battles on each map square.

In the above screen, Link is standing on 8-8 (the eighth square of the eighth row). The arrows surrounding Link tell you the minimum battle rank you must achieve to unlock the adjacent squares. If you complete that square's challenge with a "B" Rank or above, all three adjacent squares (8-7, 7-8, and 8-9) will unlock. A "C" Rank however, will only unlock the square to Link's left and the one above him.

As you progress through Adventure Mode and Legend Mode, more of the map will become available to unlock.

Additionally, various Item Cards will randomly pop up as rewards for completing different squares. A glance at the map will show you which Item Cards are awarded on which screens but be aware that they shuffle around from time to time!

Classic items like the Candle, Compass, Power Bracelet, and Bombs will often be awarded for completing different screens. These Item Cards are used to discover hidden things on the Adventure Mode search screen (hit the X Button on the map screen to search the square you're standing on).

Look in the upper left corner of the previous screen. See how the "A" Rank Victory section says "Requires Search"? That means you search the screen (X Button) and use the appropriate Item Card in the appropriate area. If you use the right Item Card in the correct location, you'll unlock the ability to earn that reward when you tackle that screen's challenge.

How do you know which square is the correct square? Well, knowlege of the original Legend of Zelda's secrets (which rocks to bomb, which trees to burn) will give you an edge! You can also use the Compass Card. This will make the correct area on the map sparkle as in the above screen. From there, you just have to determine which Item Card is the appropriate one to use.

Compass - This item will show you where an item can be used by making that area sparkle.
Bomb - Use this on walls.
Candle - Use this on trees.
Ladder - Use this to move across a single space of water.
Power Bracelet - Use this on heavy rocks or tombstones.
Water Bomb - Use this on submerged rocks.
Digging Mitts - Use these on soft earth.
Ice Arrow - Use this on circles of flame.
Raft - Use this on piers to cross to the opposite shore.
Hookshot - Use this on distant targets to pull yourself to them.
Recorder - Use this on a small body of water.
Goddess's Harp - Use it on Goddess Butterflies to make Gossip Stones appear.
