After Burner II (アフターバーナーII) is an update for After Burner, developed by Studio 128 in 1987. This version adds three new stages, allows the player to change the fighter's speed during flight, and makes other gameplay and sound changes. The motion simulator arcade cabinet is also improved, adding a throttle to the original's analog flight stick controls, giving it full HOTAS flight controls.

Players will take control of F-14XX Skycat, another fictional variant of Navy Fighter F-14 Tomcat. Strangely, overseas version of the game uses the picture of an F-15, an air force fighter.
