▶ Two factions remain open
The last two factions are the Holy Roman Empire and the Rus. Relic has not yet given any gameplay information here. We only know the information that the story tells us about them.
The Holy Roman Empire
While the West Franconian Empire eventually became France, the East Franconian Empire later developed into the so-called Holy Roman Empire. This is the territory of the German emperors until 1806. The name goes back to the claims of those emperors who saw themselves as heirs of the Roman Empire.
The first emperor of this empire was Otto I, who was crowned emperor in 962. Even if one cannot really speak of a unified German Empire, the Holy Roman Empire would most likely be understood as a kind of German faction. Exactly what advantages and disadvantages it has is still unknown. We expect at least a return of the Teutonic Knights.
The Rus
Who exactly is meant by the Rus is even more difficult to define than for the Holy Roman Empire. At least if we don't want to turn this into a scientific treatise. The name suggests that this is a people from which today's Russia emerged.
From 882 to 1240 there was still a state called Kievan Rus, which later broke up into independent principalities. These Russian princes were then badly hit and subjugated by the Mongol invaders. In the campaign, the rise of the city of Moscow is likely to be the main theme.
