Age Of Empires II Definitive Edition:Bad To The Bone
0Oh man has it been a long time since I last played Age of Empires II..and the Conquerors, I know of the HD release of this game from 2013 but..WOW I never ever expected to see something like this, This is a remaster of of the game, The Conquerors, HD Edition's "The Forgotten", "The African Kingdoms", and "Rise of the Rajas", This Remaster dropped in November 2019 with a Expansion pack named "The Last Khans", And with the release of "Lords of the West", This game has honestly, more content to it's name then most Strategy Game's I've played like Stronghold, StarCraft, and others..
I remember when the base game featured just 13 Civilizations at the beginning along with 5 from the Conquerors, But DAMN, I couldn't believe it when I read that with this game there are now 37(!) Civilizations and with Lords Of The West dropping back in January, That will jump to 39 Civilizations!, But that's not the only thing that the "Definitive" Edition does that amplifies the HD Edition's changes to 11.
There is new effects and visuals for Buildings collapsing, fire effects, weapon attacks (such as smoke from Hand Cannoniers), A better depth of view etc, HUD was changed to have the idle villager button above the screen where it can be seen better, There can now be 500 population for you the player and yes, The music has been remastered...It's ok but I liked the Conquerors music more.
All of the Campaigns now have people speaking the language (translated to english) or accents that represent the Civilization of each Campaign which is a nice touch, The scenarios of each Campaign were also worked on and changed to break habits (such as making a Wonder to cheap out some battles), There's also other changes that'll catch you off-guard.. This is a just a teaser of what I may do later on along with other Steam games I have, I play this game casually and I'm not the most observant player but I enjoy AOE II for what it is.
