Agony - Is It Worth Playing? | GAME REVIEW
371The idea for Agony started off as a crowd-funded Kickstarter project at the end of 2015 and would eventually lead to the creation of Madmind Studios soon after. The game drew inspiration from Dante’s Inferno and depictions of hell from different religions, and claimed to show “..the most terrifying vision of hell in the history of gaming.” Madmind would be forced the censor the game's console releases or face financial penalties from the publisher, due to the fact that at the time the game would receive an Adults Only rating. The censored release received very poor ratings, and original backers of the game were unsatisfied with the final product--a game which many considered not worth playing.
The poor reception of Agony had Madmind back into the studio to release a new version of the game: Agony Unrated. This featured graphical updates in addition to quality of life changes. Despite these changes--is Agony worth playing? Specifically, is Agony Unrated worth playing?
