This time I have tuned up the latest and greatest AIX a little (with CDE as a workspace window manager) and compiled some programs (dillo) and games (chocolate-doom) to show how powerful the M1 arm64 processor is emulating Power8 CPU via qemu-system-ppc64
- I have compiled GCC 10.2.0 from source on AIX 7.2 (took around 3 days to build) and used that to build FLTK and Dillo + chocolate-doom
- When I was test-playing Doom1 it felt like when I was sitting by my ancient 486DX2 many years ago.
- Many might argue that running such slow AIX emulation is useless but I think it has its purpose - one of them is just pure UNIX fun :)
