Alchemy Sound Design Tutorial New Features Logic Pro X 10.4.2.
Apple just released Logic Pro X 10.4.2 and there are some really nice features in the update like; Smart Tempo, Library on external device and some new great features in the Alchemy synthesizer.
There is a new dropzone area in the oscillators of Alchemy which makes it a breeze to import new sound samples and select which type of engine playback you want within the plugin.
Alchemy has many synth capabilities like granular synthesis, additive and subtractive. The effects in the plugin are also top notch!
I decided to take the new version for a spin and show some sound design tricks with Alchemy as the main synth. We create a future bass / game music positive and uplifting track.
The video begins with a quick overview of the Smart Tempo featured of Logic and then we dive right in to some sound creation with Alchemy. We create a granular lead flute patch, big supersaw patch (chord stab), a stubby bass with tube distortion.
Thereafter we create a nice square lead to sit ontop of the chords.
We add some drums, ligth percussion and a few transition effects to glue the little 16 bar loop into a complete drop.
