Alexander Skarsgård on the Murderbot Suit and Returning for Season 2
30Inspired by the book series The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells, the Apple TV+ series Murderbot is a sci-fi thriller with a comedic edge that follows an android (Alexander Skarsgård) that is so horrified by human emotion that it hacks itself in an attempt to be left alone to watch its favorite soap opera. The security robot that is very good at its job but would rather not have to put in the effort suddenly finds itself with a research team that wants to take the time to get to know it and not just keep it enslaved in servitude.
During this one-on-one interview with Collider, Skarsgård talked about how Murderbot could have been created by his Succession character Lukas Matsson, why he wanted the palate cleanser of the show’s comedic tone, how he personally identified with Murderbot, what it was like to wear the suit, seeing how he would look as a Ken doll, how he would love to do a Season 2, and the “kinky gay biker movie” he followed Murderbot with.
