I recently enjoyed watching a DVD containing a few episodes of Rocko's Modern Life and want to see more of it, so I felt it was also appropriate for me to try this game based on the show.

Basically this can be described as an entire game's worth of escort missions. You control Rocko, who must lead his dog Spunky safely through each level to a yellow fire hydrant. Rocko must defeat enemies and move platforms and other objects to not only keep Spunky safe, but get him to the goal as he'll continue walking in a straight line right into danger otherwise.

The graphics and sound are good (particularly the voice samples in the cutscenes), but I found this game extremely frustrating to play. Not because Spunky dies easily, he has a large health bar, but because making progress is a frustrating affair- look how long it takes me to get through the 3rd level. Make mistakes or go too slowly (not to mention Rocko's jumping controls are dreadful) and it's easy to lose a lot of progress. You will need significant amounts of patience if you're to get much joy from this.

So in all, this game is probably worth a try if you enjoy Rocko's Modern Life, but if you don't you can safely ignore it. Also, not seen here, you can move, stretch and spin the Nickelodeon logo with the controller buttons in the intro.
