Alien Trilogy Game Sample - Sega Saturn
Alien Trilogy is a pretty good FPS (First-Person Shooter) based on the "Alien" franchise that was released for MS-DOS, Playstation, and Sega Saturn. Playing as the main heroine of the series, Ellen Ripley (played by the actress, Sigourney Weaver), you go through over 30 levels blasting Xenomorphs and other odd creatures while the game's light story elements unfold, which is loosely tied to the first three films.
The game is basically seen as the "uninspired" Doom clone with nothing unique to really distinguish itself from any other FPS games, but if it went out of its way to do that, it wouldn't exactly feel like Alien either. The game has some pretty confusing stages and it could have used more enemy variety (even with some humanoid enemies, it's pretty lacking), but what it does have, it presents fairly well. It's got nice, crisp visuals and an appropriate, atmospheric soundtrack. The controls are tight with the ability to look up/down and strafe, and the game has a bit of length to it for a game of this type. If you're a fan of the Alien franchise, it's worth looking into, but isn't terribly bad in its own right either. This is a video of the opening and first level in the Sega Saturn version. Enjoy.
