8 Marbles 2 [8つの秘石2] Game Sample - PC/Doujin
Also known as "Eight Secret Stones", 8つの秘石2 is the sequel to 8 Marbles. Having more of a "story" this time, the game deals with Seto Kaiba (Yu-Gi-Oh!) as one of the boss characters who tells the story. He is aided by his assistants (which include Fate Testarossa and Nanoha Takamachi of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha fame) and he is the "king" of the competition, which he watches from afar at Kaiba Corp. As I stated in the first 8M video, there is an "18+" version which is generally a ryona version where all the girls fight with their apple-bottom and fart. I probably won't make a video for that one (or any of the renditions).
This sequel has a decidely more epic roster of characters, including many important/popular characters from the "PreCure" universe...honestly, they're the coolest I've ever seen them in this particular doujin game. There was a PreCure doujin beat-em-up that wasn't that good and I also have "Asahi" (which has Nagisa and that other girl whose name escapes me), but they aren't NEARLY this awesome.
The visuals of the CHARACTERS are modeled exactly the same; just new faces (perhaps minimal animation improvements), but the special attacks are just downright handsome; as far as FM2k games go, I've almost never seen attacks so highly coordinated and cinematic/stylish (there are very few exceptions). What I mean by this is that there are numerous times where the screen will even shift to a completely different scene and the "camera" (if you want to call it that) follows the action; not all attacks are done within the screen area. For example, Cure Peach has an attack where her pals jump in and each perform a drop kick; each time though, the screen goes higher and higher to keep the focus centralized on each character as they appear, not just Peach; it's actually cooler to see it.
The "choice" of music is excellent too; pretty much none of it is original, but that's okay...it's also okay that one Battle Theme is a tune from Christmas NiGHTs, lol. The gameplay...hmm. It is fairly combo generous, but it isn't without problems. My first complaint (and one the devs may fix in the future) is that you can't even practice or properly play story mode with every character. For example, Ninon Beart (Yes, from KOF: Maximum Impact) and Cure Peach, just go to story mode and...that's it. See those stones I have to hit at the start of story mode? They're not there. It's just an empty ship and they stay stuck on the screen with no one to fight and nothing to do. Other characters will fight a generic opponent that doesn't fight back. When you beat them, you just get thrown into the merciless "Hard" difficulty; still no practice mode for them either.
Speaking of difficultly, it's absolutely vicious compared to the first game and earlier builds of this same game. For starters, I notice in other videos for this game that they don't even show the difficulty in story mode when you fight the CPU. As you can see, my video does...and this is NORMAL difficulty. I certainly don't make fun of anyone who got their ass kicked on easy either; it's crazy. Ninon and ESPECIALLY this one chick named Rachel...they're friggin god-tier on story mode; lots of teleportation, lots of invicibility inbetween attacks, seemingly unblockable attacks (Rachel has a sword from above that seems unblockable) and Rachel is a charge character and fires attacks at Mach 5. Speaking of Mach 5, you'll notice the CPU moves at Mach 5...and you'll learn to as well if you want to survive. The CPU absolutely LOVES to dash back and forth and cross you up with loads of cheap attacks. Luckily, I can use a decent defense with decent offense.
This video shows a couple of fights with Cure Dream and like the video for the first game, a segment showing lots of character specials. You'll definitely want to watch that part. It shows some combos (not definitive though; Cure Dream is capable of more combos as well as others) and such and acts as a showcase for the game.

EDIT: Found out from a fellow on Facebook that the link isn't leading to the game and that 8M2 isn't on the website (I haven't checked for sure). That said though, I just went ahead and made another link:
