All 2D Castlevania Songs Ranked Worst To Best Part 1 (363 - 200)
8So, here we are again. I said I wouldn’t do another one of these, but what can I say. I’m a sadist.
Time stamps will be found in the comments, while grabbing those I noticed several spelling errors and just errors in the video in general. It changes nothing about the list, so at this point, I'll just let them be.
This time I took every single 2D Castlevania song and ranked it worst to best… kind of. I put a few rules in place on this one, just like my Mega Man list. However, this time I am not as certain I was able to find every original song. I may have missed one or two somewhere, but for the most part, I believe I got 99% of them. I added comments in this video for a few of the songs, I didn’t do it for all since it’s difficult to say “I like this more” in several different ways, but if I have something direct to say about a specific song, I will write a comment about it. A few things of note:
1. There will be no remixes in the video. This is far more important with Castlevania as a lot of times, the original isn’t the best. But, we are ranking the original releases of the songs. Also, unless otherwise noted, these will be the North American releases unless said game (like Chronicles) isn’t released in NA. This basically means that the NES version of Dracula’s Curse is the one ranked and not the Famicom.
2. I did not include the 3D games, however if a song originated from one of those games and made it into one of the 2D soundtracks, the 2D version is ranked. Circle Of The Moon has a few of these for example. Also, not to say the 3D soundtracks aren’t good. They are great, fantastic in some cases, but this list is already this long, I couldn’t add another 150 or so songs.
3. That said there are a few games that might meet the criteria that I did not include. The Kid Dracula series, in hindsight I should have, but they are not included. Listening to the songs, it’s not a tremendous loss as none of them would rank high, but I feel I should have at least let them have some representation. What’s done is done though. On the other hand, Mirror Of Fate, despite falling under the criteria, is not ranked. I have an intense hatred for the Lords Of Shadows games, I do not feel they are Castlevania, and I don’t think they were ever intended to be Castlevania (the name was just slapped on to improve the sales of what was turning out to be a generic, mediocre, God Of War clone). This list was daunting as it is, I can’t fathom adding a bunch of ambient noise to pad it out more.
4. It is very difficult to find the names of some of these songs as they tend to differ on the source, if I bungle a few I apologize, but I made it an effort to find the correct titles and/or alternate titles.
5. This is my opinion (helped a bit by a few friends this time) and only one person will 100% agree with every placement, and that is me, and even then, I may change it by the day. But I do feel this is a strong representation of how I feel.
