Alone In The Dark is definitely one of the forefathers of Survival Horror. Some rather hilarious design such as the werewolf, but the game conveys the horror vibe rather well.
Explore your uncle's abandoned mansion after he mysteriously took his life. Troubled memories of your childhood from that mansion make you uneasy. And they should as it's a haunted mansion with untold horrors that await you.
Make sure you save often as the game will throw you a curve ball when you least expect it. Or you might encounter a monster that requires brain rather than brawn, but not realize it until it's too late. As you might see in this video with the purple demons guarding the stairs... ;)
