Alone in the Dark, circa 1992, was a computer adventure game that served as the progenitor for the Survival Horror genre that properly got its start and was popularized by Resident Evil on the Sony PlayStation. Playing the role of either private eye Edward Carnby or the well-to-do Southern lady Emily Hartwood, the player must investigate the bizarre circumstances of artist Jeremy Hartwood's suicide by hanging, which slowly but surely reveals the true horror of the ancient Derceto mansion. While almost laughably archaic by our standards in the year 2018, this was quite the revolutionary little game back in 1992...
