Part 2. I love and hate this game. I'm glad it returned to the more survival horror roots of the first game, but man are there some serious issues. First of all the game taking place in the old west is really neat and gives off that creepy ghost town feel, perfect for this style of game. The music on the other hand goes from unbelievably annoying mouth harp and banjo music to creepy choral music which is nice. Edward controls about as well as he did in 2 which is not all that bad. The downside to combat is that there is next to zero melee weapons, lots of different guns and plenty of ammo about though. Now onto the rough parts. There is very little in the way of direction in this game and trying to figure out what to do next can be a trial and a half. Five minutes into the game I was already wandering around wondering what I needed to do to progress. There are so many things that you need to be in a very precise place to activate or search it borders on insanity. And rarely does the game give you an indication that you need to adjust where you are standing. It could all be mitigated by just having Edward say something that hints that more could be done or just something of interest is there. I got stuck quite a few times because it was unclear that there was something I could still do with an object or that I could even interact with a thing. A lot of the game was way too obtuse for it's own good of trying to deliver "hard" puzzles. I did otherwise enjoy the game and when progress was being made it felt super satisfying. This was a fun trilogy and was very cool to see where the survival genre started. Enjoy my blind playthrough.
