Engine noise in 5th gear solution (Done by service center mechanic for my car)
Air filter hub and tube joint (see pic 3) is the culprit for engine noise from co passenger seat in 5th gear.
This joint hits the bonnet in 5th gear (due to high speed and rise in rpm) and thus it makes some rattling noise.
1. Make sure all nuts and bolts of Filter unit are tightly sealed (pic 1)
2. Tighten the metal belt if necessary. If it is loose, it will cause plastic ticking sound
3. This is the actual solution. Place a foam sheet (medium thickness) between coupling and bonnet. It should be as tight as possible but do not bend the joint too much, It can break the unit. Ideally, you should apply minimal pressure to place it between bonnet and joint. Don't force insert it. Place it slowly inch by inch.
Foam sheet will not slip that fast and I expect it to be a solution for atleast an year. You can check monthly and if necessary, adjust the sheet.
Now there is no noise at all in 5th gear. Very smooth ride after this fix. 🤩
I am trying to use silicone based products instead of foam and will update once it is found beneficial as silicone has high melting point compared to foam
Tata must do something to address this issue for a permanent fix
