AM2R Cooperative NewGame+ 100% speedrun in 41:50 RTA 34:44 IGT (with Miepee)
87Presenting the world's first cooperative speedrun done with the 1.1.2 beta version of the co-op mod made by MilesTheNerd
The mod allows you to play with up to 8 people and currently syncs all health, items, metroids, events, and power-ups. Also, the Queen fight, the reactor explosion sequence, the transition to the credits at the end and death are synced.
We tried to find the best way to sync both runs in the video, so it's an approximation of what they would look like, if they were done at the exact same time without the limitations of distance and ping. To sync both videos of this run, we decided to use the first frame where my shadow and I start moving. Timing starts when choosing the difficulty and ends on the first frame where the HUD disappears for the player who got to the ship.
Notes:
-Guardian has to be fought right after Golden Temple, due to a current bug that locks you out of 100% if you don't fight him at this moment. (Fixed for the next version)
-You can't save warp to skip the escape from geothermal plant because the game thinks that you never cleared it, thus the two items there are unavailable, unless you trigger the escape again.
- We sometimes pause mid run in order to chat with each other
- My input viewer stopped working because of that
The route we made, takes save warps into account (they work like in Axiom Verge, you reload the save intentionally to avoiding the backtracking)
P1: Miepee
P2: DruidVorse
P1 Go to Golden Temple, save at the entrance. Skip Alpha, and the right room with 4 pickups. Save warp, go to Guardian - P2 Save as soon as possible and go kill the first metroid alpha then warp back.
P1 Go to get the Super Missiles from the Dual Alphas - P2 Kill Arachnus, save, kill the next two alphas on the way, get only the items of the middle and upper part of the area, warp back and get the missile on the right.
P1 Go to A4. Save and collect the Power Bomb. After explosion, collect the two pickups in geo plant. Save warp, collect PB tank in the left corner, activate the tower. Save warp, collect Plasma + SM tank - P2 Save at the Industrial complex, get space jump and warp; kill gamma, get speed booster and all items onwards, warp after killing lava gamma; get spazer and the missile, kill the gamma to the right and get the 3 items remaining.
P1 Go to A5 and activate EMP. Go collect Screw and save at station near the pipe room. Warp after screw attack. Go collect Gravity. Get the PB at the right side and warp. Fight the Alphas. After that, go to Ice. Save at the station before Serris, kill the Gammas on the way and warp after getting ice. Clean the bottom and left side of A5, go kill the Zeta. (Normally, you should save at the station before it, but I forgot to do so in this session.) Collect the missing SM container - P2 Save at the left of BG3, clear BG3 and reload after the farthest gamma, kill the two metroids at the mining facility and reload; get the pb at the puzzle, then kill the metroids at the tower area (grab items on the way)
P1 Warp back to GT and clean it - P2 Go to Hydro station, get Varia suit and its items, save, start cleaning BG2 up to BG1, get the missile on top of the Golden Temple, kill the last metroid and then enable EMP door for P1
P1 Head to Thoth. (You should save at the entrance of GT, but I forgot to do so here) Collect the left item, speed to the right one, and get the tank from Genesis. Save Warp - P2 Go to area 4 through the pipe to go to A6 (Research site) and clean it, same with the nest (A7) but reload after the last Omega.
P1 Get back to the ship, and refill your ammo. Save often and finish game - P2 Finish the game.
There are several mistakes but we are happy with this run until the next version gets released.
