AMAZING RTS Roguelike! Closed Beta Gameplay I Grit & Valor 1949
7I've only played a little over an hour of the closed beta of Grit & Valor 1949, but I can already tell you they've nailed it! The blend of RTS and roguelike feels fast-paced, the progression feels tight, and your decisions really matter. A dieselpunk theme set in an alternate WW2 style reality, you command several mech pilots to defeat waves of enemies each map. You need to balance what kind of units to counter the enemy types with capturing map objectives for met upgrades, and carefully choosing which unit upgrades you take. It's clear that you need some of the meta upgrades to really progress and beat a map, but the gameplay is great to keep you entertained and learning the first few runs, and the upgrades aren't expensive to get. As a long-time real-time strategy player and huge roguelike player, this one is a big win so far in the genres and I'm sure I'll pick it up when it releases.
