The collapse of FTX lead to the CTB fee for AMC skyrocketing. This is because FTX claimed to own 400m real AMC shares on a 1:1 basis. This turned out to be a lie. It turned out the shorts were using these 'shares' as 'locates' for their short positions, effectively providing false locates.
The can seemed to have been kicked down to bittrex, who held 625m 'real' AMC shares (interestingly, the float is only 519m shares big). Bittrex has now just closed down US operations meaning that shorts will somehow have to locate 625m 'real shares'.
This should cause the CBT fee for AMC to rocket even higher, to 2000-3000% per year.
