The desktop refresh for RDNA 2 GPUS has been long rumoured, and if recent leaks are true then the RDNA 2 refresh for desktop is REAL. RX 6000 has had no answer to Nvidia's relentless release of RTX 30 refresh graphics cards (including the mighty RTX 3090 Ti). With RDNA 3 and RTX 40 release date a ways off, AMD needs to stay competitive in price, performance (in both gaming and ray tracing) and GPU stock / availability against Nvidia RTX 30 cards until RDNA 3 releases.
But what specs will we see improved on the RDNA 2 RX 6000 refresh for desktop? We have some alleged leaks of specifications for RDNA 2 desktop refresh, but if this leak is true, how much of a performance gain could we expect? And would it be enough to keep RX 6000 part of the PC hardware / graphics card conversation? Or will Nvidia RTX 30 continue to dominate?
