American Primeval's shocking conclusion was hinted at in the first two minutes of the first episode. The Revenant author Mark L. Smith's new Western drama miniseries on Netflix is as violent and gloomy as the classic movie. But the plot of American Primeval is equally well-written, as the show made clear its direction from the start of the season. The plot of American Primeval centers on Sara Rowell, a fugitive on the run who decides to cross the frontier with her son to locate her husband. In an attempt to keep the group safe while traversing the perilous Utah Territory, Sara enlists the aid of a tracker named Isaac. Sara and her son Devin arrive at their destination following the perilous journey. They nevertheless keep traveling, choosing to go to California rather than accompany Devin's father.
