Sam Heughan, star of Outlander, has hinted at Jamie and Lord John Grey's relationship in season 8, revealing what will happen to them in the last episodes. Following a shocking season finale that suggested Jamie's (Heughan) firstborn daughter, whom he thought was stillborn in season 2, might actually be Fanny's (Florrie May Wilkinson) mother, Outlander season 8 will get underway. But in the middle of these time travel revelations, he and Lord John (David Berry) had a dramatic altercation after the latter married Claire (Caitríona Balfe) while Jamie was thought to be dead.

After their altercation in season 7, Heughan hinted at Jamie and Lord John's tense relationship in season 8 of Outlander in an interview with What to Watch. Even though Lord John's feelings are more romantic, the actor explained how their complex past together had infused their friendship. He added, though, that both are father figures to William (Charles Vandervaart), which implies that they may eventually need to work out their differences, even if it takes some time.
