Today I'm bringing you a technical gem from the Amiga 500 that many still don't know about: Ruff 'n' Tumble.
A 1994 run-and-gun game that takes advantage of the Amiga's OCS chipset like few others have.
Developed by Wunderkind and published by Renegade, this title stands out for its ultra-detailed graphics, smooth parallax scrolling, and animation so fluid it's hard to believe it runs on a standard A500.
It features four worlds with four levels each, huge bosses, a wide variety of weapons, robotic enemies, and a design reminiscent of Metal Slug... but two years before Metal Slug even existed.
Plus, the music and effects are a feast for the ears: professional tracker composition and impactful digitized sounds.
The controls are precise, and while the difficulty gets tough at advanced levels, it's always fair.
