Amok Runner | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary
25I love games that have a Mafia setting or take place in the late 19th century or early 20th. Amok Runner gives us an open city to explore with this rare setting and initially I was surprised how vast, detailed and ambitious this world was. It is quite vast with many pedestrians and civilians doing their thing and even farm animals can be found at locations that it makes sense at. City streets, train stations and bars all feel lived in and well populated.
Unfortunately though the world itself is very interesting and detailed, the game lacks a bit on a technical level when it comes to voice acting and gameplay. The voice acting is all over the place and the sound quality differs greatly depending on the speaker. It also does not help that in the first 10 minutes of the game there is basically only dialogue, which means that some people will be turned off by this even before they have seen the city itself which is quite interesting.
The fighting and action in the game also is a bit clunky and the most fun you will have with this game are the investigative moments where you explore various mansions, hospitals and other buildings. The puzzles that the game gives you are very much in the style of adventure games and were quite enjoyable to figure out. From what I understand the game will be getting updates in the future so I hope they can iron out some technical issues and add more content in the world itself. The game has potential, but needed a bit more time in the oven.
