🇬🇧 Amstrad CPC664: Part 3 (Troubleshooting Continues) [TCE #0498]
Thanks to WacKEDmaN for his advice and external ROM board, I've been trying out NoelsRetroLab's diagnostic ROM:
https://github.com/llopis/amstrad-diagnostics
It identified some 4164 DRAM failures: originally 3/8 had been socketed & replaced by an earlier owner, and I ended up replacing 7/8 of the chips. Only IC121 (bit 4) remains untouched (original & soldered-in).
After the RAM was now passing, I got to the diagnostic's menu screen (I think) as it just shows corrupted text on the screen. One suggestion was to check the MUXs (74LS153: IC104, IC105, IC109, IC113).
This was done - all four were de-soldered and replacements installed in sockets.
There was noticeable improvement ... the text was a bit more readable ... but the issue remained.
So troubleshooting continues ...
