Before going into my usual ramble, I just wanna say: Chris Issak, you suck.

I dunno if it's still a problem now, but 20 years ago, Chinese bootleg DVDs were all over eBay. And they were basically the only way to get some anime DVDs, even if their videos were low-res. And the English subtitles were just....horrifying. They weren't even really English.

The one exception to this that I ever saw were the Flame of Recca bootlegs. And that is because they stole them from the fansubbing group Shinsengumi. I know this because Shinsengumi was VERY liberal with their translations. In one instance, when the MCs met a character covered in bandages, the subs said "Who is this Shishio rip-off?" or something to that effect. Shishio is a character in Rurouni Kenshin, so a literal translation this was not. And this exact line was also found in the bootleg DVDs, so.... I'd crow about how this is proof of their theft, but I mean, yeah, what should I expect from bootleggers?
