An Early Look at a Cast & Blast Diablo style Action Roguelike – School of Magic Demo –
0School of Magic is an Indie, Action RogueLike Dungeon Crawler, a real time, Isometric ARPG with magic!
A Hack and Slash, or Cast and Blast, Action RPG Roguelite all about learning new Spells as you burn through your foes, gaining great power for both coin and exp as you explore the dungeon born of procedural generation.
Shape your deck of spells as you adventure through the procedurally generated, random dungeon, blasting down foes and gaining magical power.
The lvls come fast and furious, and you can select 1 ability to learn per character lvl, some active, some passive, with the ability to increase the lvl of an ability using found gold. It’s fast and fun.
Note: The spells are displayed as cards, but that is the only instance of cards in the game, in case your all card gamed out. This is an ARPG, not a card game.
School of Magic has a low poly look, but it looks good, with bright and easy to read magical effects, and it has Good and fitting music too, aiding immersion as you cast and blast your way through the random dungeon.
Gameplay wise, your health and mana quickly heal to full after combat, keeping the focus on fast action, though as a critique, it would be good if the active ability cooldowns did as well.
Meta progression is present in the form of gained knowledge, which is spend between dungeon crawls to unlock additional spell access, which means those unlocked spells can now be chosen or purchased from a merchant in the dungeon. Cool!
This is an early look at the free demo for School of Magic, so any bugs or technical weirdness experienced are a part of this early look.
