Dead Space 2 is a 2011 survival horror game developed by Visceral Games and published by Electronic Arts. It was released for PlayStation 3, Windows, and Xbox 360 in January. The second mainline entry in the Dead Space series, set on the Titan-based Sprawl space station, the story follows series protagonist Isaac Clarke as he fights against both an outbreak of the monstrous Necromorphs and debilitating mental illness induced by the alien Markers.

After making a series on both the original Dead Space and the Dead Space Remake and really enjoying my time spent with both games I thought it was about time to play the second game on the channel for everyone. I haven't played Dead Space 2 in a very long time and look forward to re experiencing it as it is probably my favorite game in the series. It will also act as a good comparison point if a remake of Dead Space 2 gets made similarly to the first game.

Overall the gameplay of the second game is much improved over the first game. Mainly due to the improved controls that make controlling Isaac while moving and using your weapons feel much smoother and more responsive.
The control layout is much more intuitive as well and makes the first game feel a little bit clunky or unconventional in comparison. There are also some minor quality of life changes to the gameplay as well; mainly stasis being on a recharge timer encourages you to use it much more especially in the more action packed moments. Kinesis also saw a major improvement now allowing you to impale enemies with objects in the environment and enemies own talons, and is probably my favorite addition to the game. Especially because of the way it is used at the start of the game. Zero G environments are also much easier to navigate giving the player fully unrestricted movement, really allowing the game to take advantage of its setting and leading to one of the most memorable moments of the game.
I also think that the game is a perfect blend of action and horror that really capitalizes on the improved gameplay. Pacing helps a lot with this and the player can go from an action packed set piece to feeling alone and isolated, not sure what is round the corner in a matter of minutes, that really helps keep the player on edge and I found the game still offered a lot of scares even after being very familiar with it and not playing it for several years.

I also think the story is a lot better than the fist game mainly because of the fact that Isaac now talks and can allow the player to feel like they are taking a much more active role in what is happening. The game also expands on the lore of the universe and gives us some more insight into the markers and what their end goal is. The way the story affects Isaac is also really well written and is quite personal and poignant at times. It covers a few topics that a lot of people will be able to relate to.

I also think that graphically the game is much better than the first game and along with the continued brilliant art direction from the first game really helps sell the Dead Space universe as a believable one. The game is also much darker than the first entry which really helps keep up the tension.

Some people do run into issues playing the game on new hardware, but there is plenty of information online and on the Steam community page to resolve many of the issues you can potentially face.

I really can't wait to replay this game as I always remember having a lot of fun with it. I hope you all enjoy the series with me and Thank you very much for watching I really appreciate all the support.
