An introduction to maces and war hammers
25,467Since blunt impact weapons are usually not covered as much as swords I figured it would be good to make kind of a maces / war hammers 101 video. The topics are 1.) practical aspects (mainly handling / function), 2.) design (how they were made / some examples of historical finds), and brief history (when they became common).
Maces were already used in the Bronze Age and earlier while war hammers are a more distinctively medieval form of weapon, specifically designed for use against armor. They reached their peak in development in the 16th century.
