Android VR Chrome Browisng : VR Augmenting the Magic Leap Elephant in your room
Cellphone ViewMaster VR is the antithesis of what the folks at Magic Leap are doing.. So since it is on it's way out...might as well use it one last time..
Here is some basic Android Cloud based VR wizardry for those folks at Magic Leap .... this is how simple to have their Magic Leap Elephant intro http://www.magicleap.com/#/home which currently runs in a 2D browser, viewed in VR.. Google Cardboard VR.. or AVR .. or now obsolete Cellphone Viewmaster VR..
It still gets me how clear the image is using a simple 1080p phone and Google Cardbaord..
What I am also doing here is testing viewing a 2D website in 3D /fake 3D on an Android phone. This is another example of PC to Android Cloud VR/AVR one where we use Android to generate the 3D bypassing the need for a browser in this case Chrome to use an "app" or "extension" to do so.
Using an AR HMD Google Glass to film a VR HMD Google Cardboard.. viewing a site about an AVR HMD Magic Leap..
We also harness the power of the PC and Android phone.. to create the VR or AVR experience .. this is a very basic example of how we use the cloud and multi platform VR generation to accelerate so called AR and VR ..
The real magic happens when you view this through a transparent HMD like the ST1080 .. with you can superimpose objects like this floating elephant .. or text, or this page for instance over your real world background.. Viewing AR objects over a real world background brings it's own issues ..Magic Leap though is said to resolve these ..
Little is known about Magic Leap .. i.e. hands on but this is one way to get closer to the reason why perhaps Magic Leap are sending out those owls with letters .. that or Voldermort ..is back...
Magic Leap at the time of this video remains a mysterious new step in the evolution of the HMD. With a totally different approach to image generation and as for presence , almost anti presence .. Some say /fear Magic Leap is one of a new gen of HMDs and usage paradigms for them that marks the end of the FOV2GO HMD era... even before the latter hits retail..
