When playing through Annalynn for the first time, the game seems pretty basic and straightforward as far as content goes.

But when you beat the game for the first time, via defeating the Vemon Brigade in their SN-4K3 boss machine and then watching the credits, quite a few new things become available to you, such as Cheats and new modes.

One of these new modes is Random Mode. A campaign where you repeatedly go through the first 15 levels of the game in a completely randomized order for each Round.

HOWEVER! Along the way, a special bizarre purple stage may show up for a Round or two, called the "Alien Ravine".

In these purple Rounds, the "pools" you can fall into wraparound vertically, meaning if Annalynn falls into these pools at the bottom, she'll immediately fall out from the top of the screen. Beware that the Snakes can ALSO do this!

Don't be too startled by the glitchy text you'll see during these stages. They were entirely intentional to go with the bizarreness of these levels, though they may make you forget how many continues you have left to spend if you lost all of your lives. These levels also look longer than any of the regular Rounds with more complicated layouts and more Gold and Blinding Ruby collect than usual.

As an "exchange" in a way, you'll never have to fight any bosses in this mode.
----------

Besides the usual Bonus Items that can spawn in during a Round, there will also be special Power-Ups that Annalynn can pick up with their own temporary abilities:

Double Jump Boots: Gives Annalynn a Double Jump ("Time to fly!").

Platinum Coins: Turns all remaining Gold coins in the Round into Platinum coins ("Payday already?").

Pickaxe: Give Annalynn her favorite pickaxe to attack the Vemon Brigade with ("Let's get to digging, eh?").

These are all accompanied wit myt
Y I h a tune similar to Super Mario World's P-Switch music.

If you don't want to see these, they can be turned off.
----------

Another additional thing Random Mode has that the Normal Campaign doesn't are Bonus Rounds.

After every three regular Rounds, Bonus Rounds have Annalynn in a minecart, where you have her collect as much Gold and even Platinum as you can for Bonus Points, finishing off with a Bonus Fruit to same at the end with its own set of prints on

Just watch where you go, because any screw up can end the Bonus Round. You could fall right off the track and into a bottomless pit, crash into a wall, bump your head on the ceiling, or even crash right into another minecart with one of those Snakes!

Bonus Rounds can also be toggled on or off.
----------

Random Mode is more toggleable than Normal Mode. You can set the amount of Lives and Continues you start with.

Speaking of that, Continues ARE limited in this mode. No Lives and no Continues mean an instant Game Over.ii kill k Li Li Kimiko

You can even toggle what levels do and don't appear in a Random run, but having them all turned on is the only way to see those bizarre purple levels.
----------

Random Mode is basically an Endless Mode. You just keep going further and further until you've exhausted yourself of Lives & Continues or just decide to quit on your own.

The Snakes will just keep becoming tougher to deal with as you go through further Round, such as:

Increasing their movement speed to chase after Annalynn. ESPECIALLY Randy. He can get PISSED.

Decreasing the time they're stunned from a Blinding Ruby picked up by Annalynn.

Decreasing the already-small period of time they take to peek below for Annalynn before they drop down to her. Eventually they’ll just stop peeking entirely and just instantly divebomb when they can.

As a bonus, I enabled their Hats (except for Mike, because he never got one, poor guy).

It makes them look more fun, but this was also to help colorblind players figure out who each of them are during the game. Remember that they all have different behaviors like the Pac-Man Ghosts.
----------

Last, but not least, one of the two Cheats I had on for this playthrough is to make the Bonus Items fly around...

The other one? I III To let Annalynn talk, courtesy of Elspeth Eastman.
