Antlion Audio Kimura Solo and Duo IEMs are Perfect for Audiophiles and 2D Gamers but What About VR?
5Antlion Audio has gained a reputation for producing excellent audio products that cater to a wide range of users. Their latest offerings, the Kimura Solo and Kimura Duo IEMs, are no exception.
Starting with the Kimura Solo, this in-ear headset delivers an exceptional audio experience with a balanced sound signature. When comparing the two, the Kimura Duo clearly stands out as the more premium option IMHO. With the addition of the increased sound stage the Kimura Duo is a great solution for users who value both audio quality and prefer a dynamic driver and a more balanced armature. The Kimura Solo, while still a great option for audio enthusiasts, lacks the added sound stage that the Kimura Duo provides.
The Kimura Solo and Duo also both take things up a notch by offering not only premium audio quality but also a decent built-in microphone. The microphone adds another layer of versatility to these IEMs, making them suitable for video calls, gaming, and recording video content. They both also share the nice bendability that Antlion has always provided with their Mic solutions. This ability to reshape the earpiece gives users the option to really dial in the comfort on these IEM's as they are fully customizable to most ear shapes.
Over the couple of weeks that I tested these IEMs I have to say I have grown to really like them... The comfort is good and as already mentioned above, the sound quality is top notch! The only thing I did not like was the fact that these were wired. having to deal with a cord can get somewhat cumbersome when connected to a game controller or routed back over to my PC. I found myself getting caught up in the wire a few times but overall it was not a deal breaker.
Now, the one thing I was most disappointed with has nothing to do with the IEM's themselves... As a VR channel I decided that I had to try these with my daily driver headset, the Quest Pro, and I was bummed to find that Meta has blocked the Mic port from accepting external input... so in other words, the Kimura IEM's sounded GREAT but I could not get the added benefit of having a better mic in my VR multiplayer sessions. the cord is also a bit long for VR headset use but It would be great to at least have the option as I can tell ya that the Kimura Duo sounded AMAZING with my Quest Pro! Hopefully Meta will eventually open the mic jack up to third party use but until then I can't really recommend these for the use case of VR gaming but for traditional pancake 2d gaming these are now going to be my daily drivers.
In conclusion, both the Antlion Audio Kimura Solo and Kimura Duo IEMs offer an excellent audio experience that caters to different needs. The Kimura Solo is perfect for those who prioritize audio quality with a heavier emphasis on bass, while the Kimura Duo is the way to go for users who want a premium solution that can has everything the Solo's offer but with a more expanded sound... Regardless of which one you choose, Antlion Audio's attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality products are apparent in both!
