It seems that ants do mourn the death of those in their colonies. One ant discovered a dead one who was joined by others shortly. After some time, an ant carried the remains of the dead ant up the tree which is their home (or base of operations) which got too high up for me to see. I wonder if it's for burial, or stored food... Do ants cannibalize?
