As in sim racing community elitism and clique are nicely represented and certain dogmas circulate around since the beginning of time like "only RBR is the only real rally sim" (Great super responsive sim, I completely appreciate it but some of the RBR devotees, not so much) or "everything is just a cheap toy for kids and only iRacing is for serious people" (a great online sim framework if you don't mind constant milking business models), it is easy to run into some infinitely insightful revelations like the quotation from the title of this video. I said when I heard it, wait a moment, what? It's complete BS, you can make the cars dance around any way you want. Actually I tend to lose time as I enjoy throwing the chassis sideways too much.

Also I think my experience with DR2.0 was quite useful in real life on slippery roads / loose surfaces. Sim racing and understanding how the car behaves on the limit made me a much better and more careful / calculating real-life driver, much more aware of how road conditions change the balance. If you know the balance of your own car, the same reflexes work like in a decent sim. I think my most played ones (Assetto Corsa and DR 2.0) saved my life a couple of times in the reality. The only downside is, if you have a first-time passenger he or she will freak out as (of course within speed limits) safe driving for you means you brake very late, straighten turns inside your lane, always aim the apex and accelerate out as early as possible because the car stays most stable on the road that way :)

This video is not about all the other sims, I like a lot of them, just about defending this one, based on the game footages I shot during my club championship days back in 2021-22. I made it with the intention of just linking this video next time I hear BS like this one I quoted in the title.

This is a re-upload as the original video included background music instead of engine sounds.
