Today, on things that make no sense whatsoever, I found the debug mode for the game. And here's a test of it.
The character you replace still seems to keep some of the stats of the original character. My Arios kept, for example, Lloyd's high evasion.
Interesting to say the least, gonna try more shenanigans and see how bad this can get.
