AoE4 campaign: The Normans: Hard difficulty playthrough: The fall of Bayeux (Part 3)
The 3rd scenario in the Normans campaign.
This scenario focuses on heavy use of the palings ability to give archers a chance to beat horsemen and knights.
Once you beat the first lot of horsemen, you'll get reinforcements. Position the next lot of archers next to the first lot and use the paling ability. You should be easily able to beat the second lot of horsemen taking only minor damage.
A second lot of reinforcements should join you, including some pivotal spearmen. Always position the spears in front of the archers. I think it's better in this scenario to drag out the 3-4 groups of horsemen and knights one at time, instead of all of them as it's easier to beat divided forces. Plus your archers won't be surrounded and palings will protect them.
Once you work you way up to the walls, you can't invade as you lack siege equipment. So move west, taking care to not to expose your bowmen to any cavalry and use the spearmen to quickly take down any towers that stand in your way.
Once you've captured the city. Build the economy, build the blacksmith and build the rams. When assaulting the city, it's good to take out the stone towers and trying to breach the walls, before moving onto the main city. This may need two or three more waves but there shouldn't be much difficulty in removing the buildings or the army.
Once you capture Bayeux, you win.
